![]() ![]() which have evolved the face and aim of the company. Recently there have been two key changes to Bergsten Music Inc. The client list quickly became a who’s who of the worldwide music industry. Throughout the 1990’s Bergsten Music grew in reputation and size while working with some of the world’s favorite artists like Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Aerosmith, Don Henley, Elton John, Sting, and a host of others. With this client, Bergsten Music became a major player in the Northeastern market for backline and is now the premier company for service and inventory. This concert, one of the largest annual concert events in the world, had almost thirty acts. As a result, the need for additional help lead Bergsten to hire the company’s current Vice President and General Manager: Greg Borsari, a dependable and knowledgeable audio engineer who Andy had known since 1975.Īs the 1980’s drew to a close, Bergsten Music was afforded the opportunity to provide services for the KISS 108 annual radio show. Through the 1980’s, the venues surrounding Boston such as the South Shore Music Circus, The Cape Cod Melody Tent, and Great Woods (now the Comcast Center) had an increasing demand for backline. This led the way to working with local Boston bands like The Cars who utilized the Syndrum on the intro of “My Best Friend’s Girl.” With the addition of the Syndrum, Bergsten Music officially became a backline rental company. Later, in 1977, after graduating Berklee College of Music, Andy Bergsten held a job as a rep for Syndrum Electronic Drums, which quickly became a key part of his growing backline experience. Bergsten continued to provide gear and technical support for his band throughout the 1960’s and 70’s. In 1968, Van Morrison used Bergsten’s equipment for a show that Andy’s band also played as the opening act. It was used to describe the back of the mill, the last row of houses in a housing section, and even the back section of a working area. The word backline was a term used in that booming textile era here in the south. The group wanted to choose a name that's meaning went along with that historical heritage. With their roots planted in that good, ole time, mountain music soil, while being watered by today's more contemporary grass sounds, Backline hopes to branch out and produce a music, like so many have before them, that will stand the test of time in the Bluegrass industry.īecause most of the original band members grew up in "Mill Hill Towns" such as Pacolet, Glendale, Spartanburg etc. ![]() Having the ability to create their own catalog of original music, but also give traditional covers a Backline feel, the band is looking forward to leaving their musical mark wherever they can. This allows them to bring a smooth and vibrant presence to the stage. The group focuses on carefully arranged music and vocal harmonies. It can be enjoyed by the more seasoned veterans of the genre as well. Their style of picking has proven to be modern, with just enough traditional flare that it catches the ear of the younger generation of bluegrass listeners. They have a sound that is fresh, fun, different, and yet familiar at the same time.
